Always think five moves ahead

Today was Father's day in America....different countries have Father's day on a different day? YES. If that is not what you were thinking when you found out, then you are a lot smarter than me! To commemorate the day, Heidi Klum told a story on her AOL website about the best thing she ever learnt from her father and still uses to this day. Heidi said her father taught her how to play chess when she was a girl, and told her to apply what she learnt from the game in her everyday life:

"From an early age he always played chess with me, and I feel like playing chess with him and always learning to think two, three, four, or five steps ahead has really helped me in business. I don't just think about the next step, I think about five steps ahead." 

That is definitely savvy advice! My dad told me he only wishes I had heard that advice before, and thought four or five moves ahead before I bought that now broken down bomb of a car, of mine!.... Dads!!

The Science of Cool

There appears to be hope for Mischa Barton's some what failing movie career. Mischa is set to star in a movie with her former The O.C cast mate Willa Holland. The film is already generating buzz in the movie world, and is called: 'The science of cool'. According to The Belfast Telegragh, The film is about:  "two high school nerds who accidently stumble across the secret chemical formula to making themselves cool when a science experiment goes wrong. But they soon discover there are consequences to having it all." Mischa has failed to be in a hit since she 'The OC,' fingers crossed this film does well for her sake, or I fear she may sink into oblivion or appear only in 'Where are they now' galleries.

The Science of Cool will also be starring: Rumer Willis, and Kiowa Gordan of Twilight fame.

Fashion savvy: Lauren Conrad

I have always been a big fan of The hills star: Lauren Conrad, so when the new show she was producing got the axe by MTV before it had even aired an episode, I was very upset. Lauren revealed in a statement that it was axed because MTV executives thought the show was too 'high brow' for their viewers......so in other words: LC didn't get drunk often enough and make out with random guys.

A huge part of watching 'The hills' was getting a glimpse into the intimate details of Lauren's private life. After watching LC's failed romances draw out over more than six years of her life onscreen, she found a relationship special enough to keep off screen and away from the camera's. Lauren has now been in a committed relationship with Kyle Howard for over two years. Kyle is an American actor, you may recognise him from the movie 'Orange County' with Jack Black or even from the once popular TV show 'Grosse Point.'

Now a days Lauren is still good friends with some of her 'The hills' alumni, including best friend Lo Bosworth, Whitney Port, and Stephanie Pratt. Lauren, now concentrates on her clothing line Paper crown, she is also a successful author whose books have all made their way onto The New York Times best sellers list.

Rachel Zoe

 It is so easy to forget that our favorite celebrities fashion choices aren't always their own, they have a stylist. Whenever you see your favorite celebrity wearing something seriously bad, it is most likely because their stylist was sick that day and they had to pick out their outfit themselves....okay I am generalizing and there are definitely some celebrities out their, that pick out their outfits all by themselves. One celebrity stylist, however, who does pick out many A listers clothes and deserves major props is Rachel Zoe. The women is a fashion icon, who has also made fashion icon's out of many of her famous clients. Rachel Zoe's impressive list of clientele includes: Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz, Mischa Barton, Liv Tyler and Eva Mendes, just to name a few. Below are some of my favorite pieces from the 2011 fall Rachel Zoe collection, I am absolutey in love with all of the fitted suits she has designed they are very 1940's. Click here to see Rachel Zoe's full collection...  it is to die for.

Bridesmaids and Super 8

I have seen two great films this week: Bridesmaids and Super 8. I saw Bridesmaids on Monday and I was the only girl and I was accompanied by five of my guy friends, which we all thought was hilarious. More hilarious however, was the film! I swear there was only ever five minute intervals at most of us not laughing, so basically: we were laughing the entire duration of the film. My favorite performance in the film was from Melissa McCarthy who played the hilarious 'Megan.' Melissa also plays my favorite character on Gilmore girls: 'Sookie,'  and it was good to see her in a film where she might finally get some recognition for her excellent comedic ability. Equally as memorable were the performances by Australian actress Rose Byrne, and the writer and lead in the film: Kristen Wiig. Super 8 was also amazing, but in a whole different way. I will not say much on it, but I will tell you to click on a link to my friend Darran Price's review of the film and see what he has to say about it: click here. Rosie Tupper

Here are some photo's of my friend Rosie Tupper. Rossie is a big time fashion model, we used to do dancing together when we were little. It seems strange picking up Vogue and seeing her face on the cover and walking passed clothing stores and seeing her face plastered over posters, as she models their latest fashions. Unfortunately I only see Rosie now when I run into her at the shops, when she is back in Perth visiting her family. Rosie moved away from Perth a few years ago and is now living in one of the fashion capitals of the world: New York. Rosie is always so lovely to chat to when I do happen to run into her, and she always plays down her glamorous lifestyle because she is so down to earth. This is one girl that is not only stunning, but beautiful inside and out. I could not wish success on anyone more, she is a class act. xX Aisling.

A fashion no no?

I am all for sitting around at home in track pants and uggies that are worn in combination with old T-shirts you would not want to be caught dead in, but my sister has taken it to a whole other level of late. My jaw drops, my eyes widen and time stops for a minute every time I pass her in the hall ways or in our lounge room wearing......wait for it.....wait for it...Socks and sandals!!!! "NOOOOOO" I tell her, and she looks puzzled, "what?" She replies. "What do you mean what?" I reply, "Scandals and socks are a fashion no no!" I say, "but it's comfortable," she replies. There are things you still wear, but wouldn't be caught dead in and there things you should be shot dead for wearing (just kidding, death should never coincide with fashion...I am talking to you animal killers!!). This was my feelings on socks and scandals a few months ago, but could it be that my sister is on to something and socks with scandals could finally be a fashion yes? I keep seeing the socks with strappy heel scandals trend on the red carpet and grace the pages of Vogue and I am starting to love the look, I have posted some pictures bellow(i don't own any of the photo credits however). What do you guys think? Yes? Or best left for terrible tourists who pair them with Hawaiian shirts?

Hart of Dixie

Rachel Bilson is starring in a new television show for the CW created by Josh Schwartz, called 'Hart of Dixie.' Surprisingly, 'Hart of Dixie' is a medical Drama and Rachel plays a cardio-thoracic surgeon. This is quite different to any other character Rachel has played before so it will be interesting to see how she goes. I do miss seeing her in that other show created by Josh Schwartz 'The OC,' you may have heard of it? Back when Rachel played 'Summer Roberts,' and back when she was dating Adam Brody, sighhhhhh. Below are some photos of the days they would wonder the streets of L.A together and girls would only dream of being in her designer shoes.

Vanessa Hudgen's new Candie's girl

I am loving this new Candie's Ad campaign, featuring High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens. People have been giving her flak saying she is taking her clothes off 'yet again,' but the Candie's line features lingerie (and she has to model what they offer) so what is a girl to do? Unlike many claims that she took photo's of herself and released them for publicity, I truly believe in Vanessa's case they were simply for her boyfriend and they fell into the wrong hands.

Vanessa took her clothes off in what was supposed to be private pictures for her boyfriend and people still seem to think that therefore, she must lock herself away and forever wear nuns clothes. She didn't want everyone to see those photo's and yet she still apologized for something she didn't mean to happen. Live and let Live!! People need to move on!! She clearly has, and girl is looking fabulous!! Vanessa Hudgens is taking the reigns from previous Candie's girl Britney spears. Britney tweeted Vanessa her support a few months back:

Forever 21

I recently just turned 21 (which I was very excited about), so I had a massive party!! Including a bouncy castle (I will upload photo's soon). As a present to myself (well really from the money people gave me for my birthday) I got all online shop crazy and bought several items from the American store Forever 21. Check out Forever 21's website, their clothes are AMAZING and even better extremely affordable! I am not kidding...I am talking lower than Kmart prices. The only down side is the hefty postage and handling fees if you don't live in America, like me. Forever 21's clothes are totally worth every penny, however, and will work out to be cheaper than Australian stores that carry the same kinds of clothes.

This is my first ever blog entry, I am a blogging virgin. I thought I would start by telling you what you are most likely to find on Aisling Rose: you will find out about my favorite places to eat, visit and shop. I will also be talking about my favorite t.v shows, movies and books, as well as keeping you informed on my favorite celebrities of the moment and my favorite fashion must haves!
